A Pick Up and Deposit Station (PDS) is the hand off point between
a Vertical Transfer Unit (VTU) and an Aisle
Row Cart Pair (ARC). There is a PDS located at each
level of rack for the purpose of that pallet interchange. A
PDS can be designed for nearly any variety of pallet shapes and
sizes.
Operation
Inbound Pallets:
- An inbound pallet is placed on a PDS by a VTU.
- Once the VTU is complete with that operation, an ARC pair
is directed by PowerWCS to move
into the PDS under the pallet.
- Once correctly positioned under the pallet at the PDS, the Row
Rail Cart (RRC) raises up and lifts the pallet off
the PDS.
- Once this operation is confirmed to PowerWCS, the ARC pair
will move down the aisle to the correct row for storage.
Outbound Pallets:
- An outbound pallet is placed on the PDS by the ARC pair after
that pallet has been retrieved from a row of storage.
- After the deposit operation is complete by the ARC pair, the
VTU is directed by PowerWCS to move to that level
- Once the VTU has arrived at the appropriate level, it will
pick the pallet off the PDS and deliver it to the correct
level for output from the system.
